My Frosty Dessert Cafe – Vancouver

Burrrrrr! It’s cold in here – but that doesn’t stop the foodie fam from visiting dessert places with shaved ice dessert! Hidden in a complex/plaza, this Korean cafe was quite delicious!

V-STAR RATING:

Variety – 7/10 – From what I can remember, you can only get taiyaki (3-4 different flavours) shaved iced (strawberry, mango, etc.), drinks: tea, coffee, flavoured fizzy lemonade, and sweet toast.

Service – 7/10 – Getting our stuff took some time. The Taiyaki was fast because they were tiny portions. Other than that, they were really nice I guess? Very little interaction since you come in – order –  then seat yourself and they bring it to you when it’s ready.

Taste – 9/10 – The shaved iced was very creamy and soft! The Taiyaki was a good size (in my opinion) because I usually can’t finish the normal size. The drink that I got was interesting, but probably very overpriced.

Atmosphere – n/a – no atmosphere here.

Reasonably Priced – 8/10 – Priced normally in terms of what you can expect nowadays at these dessert cafes.

Overall, I wouldn’t come here again (if I was coming from home). If I was in the area or if it was on the way to another place I was going to, then I would be more willing to make a pit stop there.

Jack Frost – Richmond

Saw this all over Instagram so we decided to drive down here… All I can say is MEH.

V-STAR Rating:

Variety – 7.5/10 – There are bingsoos, dippin’ dots, macrons, and a few variety of cake slices. I went here because of the dippin dots and bingsoo…………….

Service – 7/10 – It was alright. We just ordered, sat down, and then they brought it to our table and that was the end of that. There was a table of cups and a jug filled with a quarter of ice and no water..

Taste – 6/10 – I thought the dippin dots (banana split) was flavorless? Maybe it had more freezer burn than the actual flavor? I prefer mini melts over dippin dots any day!!! The Mango Bingsoo was garbage. It was so meh and the mangos were so hard. I believe they used green mango for this instead of the yellow peel mango…

Atmosphere – n/a

Reasonably Priced – 7/10 – The price did not match the quality so I would say this was not reasonably priced.

Regardless, it was a garbage experience and I was very disappointed to have come here all the way from Surrey…

Passion8 Dessert Cafe – Vancouver

I’ve heard of this place before so when we saw it after going to that Conservatory at QE Park, I just had to check it out.

V-STAR Rating:

Variety – 7/10 – From what I can remember, you can get a few different flavors of cheesecake and bingsoo. I think there were macarons available but meh, not my thing.

Service – n/a – you order then sit and then they bring it to your table. Not much “service” needed.

Taste – 6.5/10 – The cheesecake was SUPER strong in the cheese flavor and the matcha. The Bingsoo wasn’t that great. It was a tad syrup-ie and the ice wasn’t as soft as Snowy Village. It was just presented very aesthetically and you get cheesecake on top of it (but I hate cheesecake).

Atmosphere – n/a

Reasonably Priced – 8/10 – it was roughly 6.50-8$ for the cheesecake and double digits for the bingsoo. That is average pricing to me.

Overall, wouldn’t make the trip here again. Side note: it was quite packed on a weekend night so maybe I am ordering the wrong things since lots of people come here…
