Wow! It’s been a long break… I’m back foodie fam! Trying to catch up on my posts to give you guys the inside scoop on where to go or where not to go… or at least what to expect and you can decide if you still want to go there… 🙂
Variety – 9/10 – For appetizers, you could get calamari, dips, salads, oysters, prawn cocktail, tacos, ahi tuna poke, beef carpaccio, fish and cip cones, tuna & avocado toast and miso glazed sablefish… Keep in mind, this is a SEAFOOD restaurant and that’s their specialty (hence the happy hour choices – all seafood basically). They also have buck-a-shuck here for $1.00 feature oysters!!
Service- 8.5/10 – Everyone’s friendly and quick. Our server was really nice. Although it was really busy, she tried to be as fast as she could. If someone else (who wasn’t our server) noticed we were trying to look for our server, they would come to our table and ask us if we need anything.
Taste – 9/10 – I liked majority of the things we ordered. Wasn’t a fan of the “sushi chef’s feature” which is their daily creation. That day was supposed to be some sort of spicy salmon roll but it wasn’t spicy at all! It also had a weird topping that we were not a fan of.
Atmosphere- 9/10 – Everyone’s smiley here, maybe because it was hot and sunny and it was patio season… Everyone’s super friendly and the staff is helpful if you look lost (when you’re obviously trying to find your way to the bathroom).
Reasonably Priced – 7.5/10 – For happy hour, it was reasonably priced (for 90% of it)! If I was here for a normal occasion, it would probably be a little pricey for my pockets. The quality that you get is definitely worth it during happy hour..
Overall, I would come here again … in the summer … for happy hour 🙂
We decided to go here for DINE OUT because it was close to the hotel and I didn’t want to walk very far… 🙂
Vietnamese Tuna Tartare Bar
Braised Beef Cheeks
ARC Chocolate Hazelnut Bar
Variety: n/a – We did dine-out so we were not looking at the main menu.
Service: 9/10 – Our waitress was nice, but when it was dessert time, she let someone else cover for her and they gave us the wrong dessert apparently (because she came by after and said my plate was supposed to say Happy Birthday but the other girl gave it to someone else).
Taste: 7.5/10 – the tuna tartare was okay. I wish there were other things to accompany it with. The taste was a lil too fishy for it to be eaten alone. The Braised cheek was pretty good, except the flavour was too much after half-way through the dish. As for the dessert, it was SUPER RICH. Dark chocolate was very strong, so it was something that I couldn’t finish on my own. The whole thing was just too much.
Atmosphere: 9/10 – the ambiance is very classy, dim, soothing(?). Interior looks very nice.
Reasonably Priced: 7.5/10 – super expensive but it is a high-end restaurant and I am not too sure if the quality of the food is worth the money. Since we did dine-out, it was dine-out portion… The Tuna Tartare was not what I expected and that was my most anticipated dish… Regardless, if you like classy expensive things, Arc is the place to try out at least once?
Overall, maybe I need to come try this place again and order things off the menu. It is quite pricey though so .. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Again, we just googled what restaurants were on the way to the ferry from Parksville and this was one of the best options that we all agreed on…
Variety – 9/10 – There were a lot of different choices to choose from. Your typical Greek options plus pasta (which is usually not on the menu for legit Greek Restaurants according to my former Greek boss). But it was nice to have that variety.
Service – 7/10 – It was very busy so the service was a little slow. Perhaps we were overlooked because we just got back from the caves/hiking and were on the way to the ferry so there was no pampering up, thus we looked scrubby and we were the youngest group there. They did, however, offer us a free dessert which was really nice of them considering they didn’t do anything wrong… (and we did check the other tables who had left or were about to leave, they did not get free dessert like we did).
Taste – 9/10 – Everything was very delicious. Taste just like how a Greek restaurant should. The meat was tender and soft.
Atmosphere – 5/10 – it was pretty cool that they turned the house into a restaurant but it was not cool that the place (or the area of our table) smelled like urine. Occasionally we would get a whiff of urine – maybe the walls were a little stinky… but something definitely reeked.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Reasonably Priced – 7/10 – Some things were very overpriced but some was very worth the money. What I assumed I was getting, was definitely not it, and WOW the portion was HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not dent that plate at all (lamb rack).
Overall, I would recommend just for the one time experience.

Saw this cute little cafe on one of those articles (buzzfeed? dailyhive? etc.).
Variety – 7/10 – there was not much to choose from as we had missed breakfast by 10 minutes OR we were actually there in time but by the time we ordered, it was over…… Couple things I wanted on the menu was actually NOT available but they did not remove it or put a sign saying not available. . . . thus, I was in a panic and had to either choose quickly or not get a drink at all.
Service – 7/10 – There was very little service as you order at the counter and you collect your food at the counter when you hear your number. Just based on those two interactions, the service was meh. Nothing significant that made me go “wow, they are so nice and so fast and just amazing!!!” – no.
Taste – 9/10 – The food was really good though. The beef dish I had was not what I expected but it was very delicious. I quite enjoyed it. I usually never eat brown rice but it was either that or quinoa and I know I am not a fan of quinoa so brown rice was a default choice. Nonetheless, the food was tasty and flavorful!!
Atmosphere – n/a – cute interior design though
Reasonably Priced – 7/10 – a little expensive in my opinion. Perhaps they put the interior decor into consideration when pricing their dishes and drinks? Some things are quite cheap/worth the buck // Other dishes were expensive in my opinion.
Overall, I would highly recommend this place as a one time visit. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come here and eat BUT if I was in the area and was hungry, I’d pop in.

Food? Pizza? Boardgames?!?! All in one place?!?!?! YESSSSSSSSS!
Variety – n/a – well it’s a pizza place so their specialty is stone-oven baked pizza and some pasta. That’s all you can get I think and some Italian appetizers… (that are overpriced)
Service – 8/10 – they were quick to seat us (there was only 1 table there), our food took time to arrive (probably because of the method and it also gave us time to play our games?), the game helper was super helpful and approached us first to see if we needed help with any games that we were unfamiliar with… (we had one game that we could not figure out how to play…)
Taste – 9/10 – Pizza & Pasta was really good…. maybe because I was hungry, but everything was perfect to the taste buds.
Atmosphere – 9/10 – super cozy feeling
Reasonably Priced – 7.75/10 – some things are way too expensive for what you get… like really? over $7 for olives…??? RIP.
Overall, I would come here again to play more board games and if I got nothing else to do…
J.Cole was canceled so we decided to still go out somewhere to eat. Ended up here and we didn’t even know about PASTA TUESDAY! WIN WIN!!~
Variety – 9/10 – Well because it was Pasta Tuesday, we didn’t really look at the other options because the deal was just too amazing. We did get a couple appetizers though (there were quite a few to choose from – I highly recommend looking at the menu or asking your server for the dishes that aren’t on the menu!!!)
Service – 8/10 – Our server was really nice and quick. She could relate to us and was kind of funny?
Taste – 8/10 – The Linguine Gamberi was super duper sour in my opinion. Maybe it’s because of all the NASTY olives that were in there. The description sounded really delicious, but thank goodness I got the Short Rib Pappardelle. It was quite delicious. The spring salad and beef carpaccio were delicious. Not salty. Not bland. Perfect.
Atmosphere – 8/10 – We were out on the patio so it was nice.
Reasonably Priced – 9/10 – Because it was Pasta Tuesday, it was DEFINITELY worth your money. Super cheap and so worth it. Appies were decently priced. Drinks were norm. They have happy hour too but we missed it.. Technically we were there 15 minutes before happy hour ended but was not able to order until AFTER happy hour ended (because it was so hard to flag down our waitress).
Overall, I would come here again!
What a cute and expensive way to spend time with your family and loved ones. A walk through a light maze and take many photos for the ‘gram..
- get pictures for the ‘gram
- pose for the ‘gram
- get likes for the ‘gram
- collect stamps throughout the maze
- food trucks that smell delicious
- expensive; don’t think it’s worth $22.25 or whatever. This should be like $10 entrance fee.
- overly crowded, you cannot take nice photos with a gillion other people in the background
- market is expensive because it’s small diy sellers or whatever
- food trucks are expensive because they are your only source of food WITHIN place
Overall, would not come here again. Was only good for a one time experience I guess.. 6.5/10 walking trip
