Burrrrrr! It’s cold in here – but that doesn’t stop the foodie fam from visiting dessert places with shaved ice dessert! Hidden in a complex/plaza, this Korean cafe was quite delicious!
Variety – 7/10 – From what I can remember, you can only get taiyaki (3-4 different flavours) shaved iced (strawberry, mango, etc.), drinks: tea, coffee, flavoured fizzy lemonade, and sweet toast.
Service – 7/10 – Getting our stuff took some time. The Taiyaki was fast because they were tiny portions. Other than that, they were really nice I guess? Very little interaction since you come in – order – then seat yourself and they bring it to you when it’s ready.
Taste – 9/10 – The shaved iced was very creamy and soft! The Taiyaki was a good size (in my opinion) because I usually can’t finish the normal size. The drink that I got was interesting, but probably very overpriced.
Atmosphere – n/a – no atmosphere here.
Reasonably Priced – 8/10 – Priced normally in terms of what you can expect nowadays at these dessert cafes.
Overall, I wouldn’t come here again (if I was coming from home). If I was in the area or if it was on the way to another place I was going to, then I would be more willing to make a pit stop there.

Suga Suga how you get so fly~
Ha. Ha. Ha. An interesting name for an interesting dessert place. Interior is super cute but quite small. The walk to the bathroom is quite aesthetically pleasing.
Variety – 9/10 – they got drinks (like bubble tea) in a fancy glass. crepe cakes. shaved iced. and probably other desserts that I wasn’t too excited about (so i forgot).
Service – n/a – you order and then you sit down and then they bring it to you. very little service required… Don’t get me wrong. They are friendly, but I can’t necessarily rate their service when there’s limits to their
Taste – 7.75/10 – The crepe cake was really good. I think I like it better than Estea Cafe. The Shaved Iced (Mango) was huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge! Was not expecting that. However, I prefer snowy village better for this. As for the mango drink, you could not mess that up (so it was delicious)
Atmosphere – n/a – quiet-ish, super small with limited seats. It seems like a place that people study in at night … super cute inside as mentioned above.
Reasonably Priced – 7.75/10 – decent price for the amount you get. Not over the top expensive. Still something that you can justify for.
Overall, I would come here again even though it’s about a 30 minute drive. It’s just worth it. Highly recommend.. 🙂
Another Bingsu/Shaved Ice with Fruits kind of dessert place. . We got there around 9PM and it was packed. Luckily a table left by the time we finished choosing what to order.
Mango + Banana Bingsu
Honey Bread topped with Strawberries
Variety: 7/10 – You can have drinks. Hot or cold. Smoothies. Shaved Ice / Bingsu or Toast with fruits and ice cream and whipping cream.
Service: 7.5/10 – Self Seating. You come in and walk straight to the counter to place your order. Then they will give you a number (they didn’t give me a number though) so that wherever you sit, they will be able to identify which order goes to which table. Since they never gave ME a number, they walked by my table and was confused because they couldn’t find a matching number.
Taste: 7.5/10 – The Mango & Banana Bingsu was alright. Barely tasted any mangos. Probably because it’s not mango season.. .There were almonds on there that made up for it and the bananas were alright. Let’s just say the Mango bingsu was edible. The Honey Toast with strawberries were something else.. it was DRENCHED in strawberry syrup and they probably used about 2-3 strawberries and FINELY chopped it up to spread it out (so that it looks like a lot of strawberries were on there). False. It was way too sweet because of the syrup and then there’s also ice cream and whipping cream which was nice.
Atmosphere: 7/10 – small. asian music. not much to really say about it. cramped space. maximize seating.
Reasonably Priced: 6/10 – Super overpriced. “single” or full portion difference is $3. The ‘full’ bowls are just a TAD – i repeat just a TAD – bigger than the single. 13 or 13.50 for the bingsu. $10.50 for the honey toast with strawberries.
I definitely would not make my way here again.

If you’re thinking about going to a dessert place in Richmond on a weekend night – good luck waiting in line … (sometimes even out the door!)
Attempted to go to Icy Bar on a weekend night and failed miserably. Luckily, we beat the rush the next Friday night and was able to be seated quickly.
Variety: 9/10 – well it is called “Icy Bar” so you better come there expecting to eat shaved ice desserts. There are other alternatives like toast, fruity pancakes, and ice cream … but you would want to go there for the shaved ice dessert..
Service: 7.5/10 – chillen/down-to-earth staff, but it took awhile until we were able to order. They gave us too much time to ponder.
Taste: 7.5/10 – ordered the “3 toppings shaved iced” (mango, strawberries, and poppers/bobas). It wasn’t significant, but since you had the option of using the unlimited bottle of condensed milk, it added the extra/missing flavor.
Atmosphere: 9/10 – absolutely loved the music the workers had playing. R&B style with some throwback mixed into there. Got me jamming while eating my shaved ice.
Reasonable Price?: 7/10 – desserts are pricy wherever you go; you’re basically paying for ice made of water & science topped with some seasonal fruits and unlimited condensed milk (which is usually an additional cost!).
Would I go here again? Yes, just to jam out while eating my fruits and shaved ice!
