It happens every single time we watch Wok in Love – we get hungry!!! Frantically looking for a Korean Restaurant that would still be opened, we found Tae Yang Gak.
Variety – 8/10 – Rice, Noodles, Chicken!!~ (all Korean style dishes) They actually have black bean noodle here!!!!!!!!! I finally found a place other than Sunny Dragon that has jjajamyun!!~
Service – 9/10 – Server was friendly. Tried to be fast? The food took a little bit long, maybe because they were already starting to do their clean up routine. We were their second last customer – I think…
Taste – 9/10 – Everything was delicious!!! Saucy but not TOO saucy? This is probably the best jjajamyun in Surrey. It is much more flavorful than Sunny Dragon’s…. Highly recommend!!
Atmosphere – n/a
Reasonably Priced – 8/10 – It wasn’t too expensive. The average Korean cuisine price. You are definitely getting the bang for your buck.
Overall, I would come here again and I would recommend.
A South Indian restaurant. Something that I’ve never actually had before. It was a very unique experience. Thankful Nikki brought me here.
Variety – 9/10 – Wow. I did not know there were so many different things you could get for South Indian cuisine. There’s a LOT of variety for “DOSA”….
Service – 8/10 – the lady who served us was nice. We were the only ones there …. so it was quick .. LOL
Taste – 9/10 – Since it was my first time, I have nothing to compare it to. The Mango Lassi was quite delicious. It wasn’t thick like a milkshake, but it was thicker than regular Mango Juice… It’s like a yoghurt drink. The main dishes we got were crispy and quite interesting. I wasn’t sure how to eat my dish so everything was falling all over the place.
Atmosphere – n/a
Reasonably Priced – 9/10 – I would consider what we got to be very cheap! It was worth the price considering I would be very skeptical about trying something new and having to pay for it if I didn’t like it …
Overall, I would probably be back here again.
Been here a couple times already but haven’t really made a review post for it yet so here it is! The first few times I came here, it wasn’t that great. Decided to come here again with friends and it was better than the first two experiences.
Variety – 8/10 – There’s a lot of things you can have – rice, noodles, soup with a variety of “toppings”. There’s also Thai specialty drinks and dessert.
Service – 9/10 – They were quick and food came out fast. Maybe because we were one of the only ones (cause it was still kind of early). It started to pick up half way through our dinner. Regardless, still friendly and quick.
Taste – 8.5/10 – we got the sharing platter (ate it before I got to take a pic), Tom Yum Soup, Pad Thai, and Green Curry w/ Rice.
Atmosphere – n/a
Reasonably Priced – 7/10 – It wasn’t over the top but Pink Elephant has better deals and combos that you can get. This place didn’t offer deals like that so it was meh.
Overall, this place isn’t my go-to Thai place in Surrey.
Saw this cute little cafe on one of those articles (buzzfeed? dailyhive? etc.).
Variety – 7/10 – there was not much to choose from as we had missed breakfast by 10 minutes OR we were actually there in time but by the time we ordered, it was over…… Couple things I wanted on the menu was actually NOT available but they did not remove it or put a sign saying not available. . . . thus, I was in a panic and had to either choose quickly or not get a drink at all.
Service – 7/10 – There was very little service as you order at the counter and you collect your food at the counter when you hear your number. Just based on those two interactions, the service was meh. Nothing significant that made me go “wow, they are so nice and so fast and just amazing!!!” – no.
Taste – 9/10 – The food was really good though. The beef dish I had was not what I expected but it was very delicious. I quite enjoyed it. I usually never eat brown rice but it was either that or quinoa and I know I am not a fan of quinoa so brown rice was a default choice. Nonetheless, the food was tasty and flavorful!!
Atmosphere – n/a – cute interior design though
Reasonably Priced – 7/10 – a little expensive in my opinion. Perhaps they put the interior decor into consideration when pricing their dishes and drinks? Some things are quite cheap/worth the buck // Other dishes were expensive in my opinion.
Overall, I would highly recommend this place as a one time visit. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come here and eat BUT if I was in the area and was hungry, I’d pop in.

We only went here because Big Chicken Town had a 15+ minute wait. So glad we went here though. I finally found a place that had soft tofu soup that wasn’t super spicy for me!
Variety: 8.5/10 – I would say there are a lot of different things you can get from here. There’s a wide selection here compared to other Korean Restaurants where they are more specific (ie: chicken only, kimbap stuff only etc).
Service: 7/10 – We had to ask twice for water and they don’t really come to check up if you need anything else. I guess that’s just how some Asian restaurants work.
Taste: I thought it was really good. The soup was super good (only because it wasn’t burning off my tongue or I wasn’t drinking a lot of water due to spiciness).
Atmosphere: n/a // Korean.
Reasonably Priced: 8/10 – I would say the dishes at this place are reasonably priced for the portion that you get. I wouldn’t say this place is expensive either.
Overall, I would come here again for my soft tofu soup.

It looks really ghetto, but it is actually a really good Mexican/Latin family owned restaurant.
Shrimp & Avocado Soft Shell Tacos
Shrimp & Avocado Burrito
Ceviché in clamato
Variety – 9/10 – lots to choose from!! rice dishes, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and many more…
Service – 9/10 – staff is nice and quick..
Taste – 9/10 – everything was really good!! flavorful and the ceviche was different but still really good. Highly recommended.
Atmosphere – n/a
Reasonably Priced – 8.5/10 – to me, everything seems reasonably priced. It wasn’t over the top expensive but it wasn’t dirt cheap. what you get is worth the money.
Overall, I would come here again – esp for the Ceviché
A small Vietnamese restaurant that isn’t particularly on a popular strip or plaza. I would consider this the sketchy area of Surrey. However, I would consider it one of the hidden jems in Surrey.
Variety – 8/10 – you can eat different appetitzers here that you can’t find elsewhere (in Surrey). There’s your typical Pho dishes and Bun (vermicelli) dishes. Of course, you can have rice dishes and more..
Service – 7/10 – You seat yourself. It takes some time for the waitress to come and help you or get their attention because they don’t stay in the front. They’re always in the back doing something… They should have another worker who is always at the front counter.
Taste – 9/10 – Pretty good Bun Bo Hue. To me, it’s very flavorful and it isn’t super duper spicy where I’m dying and my appetite is ruined. It’s perfect. The Banh Bot Loc is quite interesting….. You can eat about 5 of these and be full off of it so I’d highly recommend you share this dish with other people.
Atmosphere – n/a
Reasonably Priced – 8/10 – You’re not going to break the bank trying to eat here. But it’s not dirt cheap. Just about right in my opinion.
Overall, I will be coming here again!
